Hannah Hanford, LMT

Hannah Hanford, Bodyworker & Massage Therapist, is a graduate of the Pacific Center for Awareness and Bodywork on the beautiful island of Kaua’i, Hawai’i. There she obtained an extraordinary education in awareness oriented bodywork and massage therapy developed by the late Lee Joseph, former director of the Florida School of Natural Healing. Hannah is inspired by this unique approach of blending somatic awareness tools with touch therapy, as it is her direct experience that this type of work can be both profound and transformative.

Hannah brings presence to her work, offering her clients the space to fully drop in and connect to their bodies. She approaches her work through the lens of neurocentric understanding of the body and our relationship to pain. She believes that the work can be deep and profound without being abrupt or painful. Her style of work can be felt as an offering to her clients to feel into the core of their being – incorporating strokes that are slow, connective, deeply profound, and compassionate. She comes to her work with the knowing that our bodies are dynamic, fluid and three dimensional, offering her clients the ability to feel their bodies as one whole operating system, rather than isolated parts. Each of her sessions is designed to be client-based, offering the invitation for self-discovery by bringing awareness to long held somatic patterns. A portion of her work is also in educating clients in this new neurocentric approach to bodywork and understanding the pain cycle so that the opportunity for healing can best happen.

Hannah integrates tools from Myofascial Release Therapy, Structural Integration, Yoga, Somatics, Hawaiian LomiLomi, and Cranialsacral Therapy. Hannah continues to expand her studies to include a deeper understanding of Somatics, Yoga Therapy, Cranialsacral Therapy, Continuum Movement and Psychotherapy. She has taken trainings with Liz Koch, author of The Psoas Book and Core Awareness, as well as with Tias Little of Prajna Yoga and author of Yoga of the Subtle Body of which she is currently pursuing a yoga teacher certification.
