Shelley is passionate about providing body-centered therapy (individual and group) and trauma informed yoga classes (group and private) to individuals who are challenged with mental health issues ranging from depression, anxiety, abuse, grief and loss to PTSD. She understands that each of us in times of increased stress and traumas can find ourselves overwhelmed and forget our strengths, skills, and insight. She believes that everyone deserves to have support so they can cultivate a safe and trusting space to reconnect with that innate inner wisdom and healing power.
Shelley received her B.A. in Psychology from Fort Lewis College and completed her Masters in Social Work through the University Of Denver. She holds an active Licensed Clinical Social Worker license in both Colorado and New Mexico.
Over the years Shelley has gained experience in her field through a variety of settings which include crisis & outpatient mental health, private practice, college, medical facilities, and adult detention center settings. Additionally, she has experience in wilderness settings providing individual, couples, and group therapy. She has also served as a program coordinator, trainer, supervisor, facilitator, wellness coordinator and educator in numerous settings and fields.
YOGA & DIVINE SLEEP YOGA NIDRA
Being an avid yoga participant since 1999, Shelley has experienced and seen firsthand the immediate and lasting impact it has on one’s body (ability to release stress & tension; stretch and tone), mind (calm restless thoughts; cultivate mental clarity and confidence) and spirit (honor inner wisdom and increase self-acceptance; invite deeper peace and ease). She completed her initial 100hr certification thru Zenality yoga. She later went on to complete her 200hr training and certification under the auspices of Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health. She obtained her certification in trauma-informed yoga through by Zabie Yamasaki’s who teaches Transcending Trauma Through Yoga. Most recently, she has become certified in Divine Sleep Yoga Nidra ®.
When she is not supporting healing in others, you can find her playing in the outdoors with her dog and working on deepening her own self-care. She is an enthusiastic mountain biker, hiker, and standup paddle boarder who enjoys playing on trails and rivers in the four corners area with her partner and friends.
